Today’s wet diapers

Newborns often have 6+ wet diapers in 24 hours after milk is in. Fewer than that, or none for 8 hours, needs a clinician.

First-week checklist

Safe sleep

  • Alone. No pillows, bumpers, stuffed toys, or extra blankets.
  • Back. Every sleep, including naps. Illness is not a reason to prop.
  • Crib. Firm flat mattress, fitted sheet only, in a 20–22°C room.
  • Awake tummy time is separate — only when watched, never for sleep.
